Victorians are fined for more than $4.4 million for throwing cigarette butts from their cars in the past 12 months
We have all seen it happen. Interestingly the growing population who will not stand for it are dobbing these people in. Environmental Protection Authroity issued fines to more than 21,000 people in that period totalling more than $4.4 million dollars of which 90% of these culprutes were responsible for throwing cigarette butts from their cars. The remaining 10% of these people were just caught for general littering. It appears that many litterers simply do not understand the consequences of throwing rubbish in the street. From the previous year people fined were up almost 5%.
