Recycle your old computer
Many people were not aware of it - Tech companies will take your old computers off your hands under what is called the Bytebackscheme.
Byteback is a free computer takeback program to help people dispose of unwanted computer equipment responsibly.
Byteback is an Australian first as government and industry are sharing responsibility for disposing of computer waste safely. Sustainability Victoria is running Byteback in partnership with the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) and founding partners Apple, Canon, Dell, Epson, Fujitsu, Fuji-Xerox, HP, IBM, Lenovo, and Lexmark.
It is hoped it will form the basis of a national framework for the responsible disposal of computer waste. It's on till the end of 2008. Call Byte back Australia for more information. (03) 9614 2055 or email: byteback@aiia.com.au
